A Brief History

Studio Suite was conceived in 1995 and is the brainchild of American Joel Stoner, a multi-platinum, award-winning engineer, mixer and producer in his own right.

Joel's extensive experience of the studio industry and his wide range of programming skills gives him an unique understanding of the specialised requirements of an application which organises and automates many of the processes involved in running a successful facility. Joel started AlterMedia in early 1997 and soon augmented his own skills with a staff of programmers who's remit was to hone and make Studio Suite the excellent package it is today.

Studio Suite was first released in early 1998 to wide acclaim from potential users, industry pundits and Joel's existing customers; the latter of which had been so keen on such an application, that they'd taken part in beta testing to gain an early advantage.

An 18 year veteran of the music industry, Joel has worked on countless records, films, TV shows and jingles in over 100 of the best studios in the world. Joel is a Bachelor of Music Production and Engineering and is the Vice President of the Atlanta chapter of NARAS (the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences), a member of AES (the Audio Engineering Society), NAMM (the National Association of Music Merchandisers), the FileMaker Solutions Alliance, and the Association of Database Developers. He is also a published author, college lecturer, and has been a panelist, judge, and moderator on topics related to the recording industry.
